Good news: you can now come and hang out at Oodi again. Our services have been limited for a long time, but now the restrictions are finally easing up. We have been looking forward to seeing you again! This article details which of Oodi’s services are currently available to customers.
Lobby
In the lobby, things are going back to the way they were before the restrictions. Our partners Helsinki-info and EU have returned and Restaurant Oodi is serving delicious meals once again. Kino Regina will also be re-opening on Tuesday 29 June, and the City’s Youth Services, which are moving to Oodi, are also starting up their operations. The lobby has customer computers, photocopiers and scanners that you can use, in addition to which you can also return library materials and admire the Helsinki Satellite Reef, which is part of the Helsinki Biennial.
Second floor
On the second floor, the facilities and machines are in use again! At present, you can use the customer computers, photocopiers and scanners and work in the reading room. The meeting and work spaces as well as game rooms are open again. As a novelty, we have a PlayStation 5 in Game Room 1. In addition, you can borrow Ring Fit Adventure and use it in any of the game rooms. Remember also our retro game corner that can be used without reservation during the library’s opening hours.
At the Urban Workshop there are sewing machines, overlockers, 3D printers, media workstations, a vinyl cutter and a large format printer in use. As a novelty, there is an A2 photo printer and an A3 scanner in test use, which can be used every day until 4 PM. The photo and video studio as well as Studios 5 and 6 are also open. In the music studios you can also borrow instruments to be used in them. The machine room and recording studio will open later.
The opening hours of the Urban Workshop will lengthen during the summer. Mondays are maintenance days, meaning that the services become available at 4 PM. We prefer self-service in all of Oodi’s services at the moment. Every machine has a user manual that is easy to read and understand. You can also ask for assistance, but please keep in mind the safe distance. All the rooms and machines at Oodi are in Varaamo, where you can look for more information and reserve them for your use.
Book Heaven
The Book Heaven located on the third floor of Oodi is open almost as normal. You are welcome to browse the shelves, pick up reservations, read magazines, enjoy coffee and tasty treats at Café Oodi and admire the view from the Citizens’ Balcony. The shelves filled up nicely while services were limited, so now is the perfect time to make some excellent discoveries! The children’s end is also open for play and the perfect place to pick up some holiday reading. The numbers of chairs around the working desks have been reduced to ensure safe working conditions.
The bathrooms, which were closed during limited service, are also now open on all floors, which is sure to please customers.
