Particular attention was paid to accessibility when designing Oodi. All our facilities are accessible. Our staff is happy to help you. Welcome to Oodi!
Entrances
Main entrance (Kansalaistori)
- The route to the main entrance is smooth, lit and sufficiently wide, and has a movement-guiding surface material.
- The entrance is difficult to perceive, but it is lit. There is a canopy above the entrance.
- The entrance doors are difficult to perceive. Outside the door, there is sufficient room for moving around, for example with a wheelchair. A motion sensor opens the outer door automatically.The inner door opens with a push-button.
- The service desk is located on the same floor as this entrance. Oodi’s services can be found on floors 1, 2 and 3.
Southern entrance (Eero Erkon katu)
- The pick-up and drop-off area is located in the vicinity of the southern entrance (maximum distance five metres), giving easy access to the entrance.
- The route to the entrance is guided, smooth, lit and sufficiently wide, and it has movement-guiding surface material.
- The entrance stands out clearly, and it is lit. There is a canopy above the entrance.
- The entrance doors are difficult to perceive. Outside the door, there is sufficient room for moving around, for example with a wheelchair. A motion sensor opens the outer door automatically. One of the inner doors opens with a push-button, while the others are opened using their handles.
- The service desk is located on the same floor as this entrance. Oodi’s services can be found on floors 1, 2 and 3.

Northern entrance (Töölönlahdenkatu)
- The route to the entrance is smooth and sufficiently wide.
- The entrance is difficult to perceive.
- The entrance doors are difficult to perceive. Outside the door, there is sufficient room for moving around, for example with a wheelchair. A motion sensor opens the outer door automatically. The inner door opens with a push-button.
- The service desk is located on the same floor as this entrance. Oodi’s services can be found on floors 1, 2 and 3.
Indoor spaces
- The premises have four floors.
- A movement-guiding surface material has been used in the premises. Tactile guidance path strips on the floor lead, among other places, to the customer service point, a tactile map, the lifts and the toilets. Blister paving on the floor indicates an intersection of raised tactile strips and warns that the person is approaching stairs.
- Every floor at Oodi has its own tactile map. All the facility signs provide information in braille as well. Guidance in braille is provided behind the stair handrails to indicate which floor the person is entering.
- The doors inside the premises cannot be clearly distinguished from the walls.
Lifts
- The premises have three lifts with sufficient room for a wheelchair, and its door opens automatically. On all lifts, the floor numbers can be felt with fingers. The button for the exit floor is distinguished from the other buttons.
Services and aid devices
Toilets
- The premises have two accessible toilets located on floor K. However, the toilet door is not easy to open or close.
- Two accessible toilets are located on floor 2.
- Two accessible toilets are located on floor 3.
Induction loop

- All of the premises’ customer service desks, and the event spaces (Kino Regina, Maijansali, Kuutio, Learning space 1, Learning space 2 and Saarikoski-rug) are equipped with an induction loop.
Guide and assistance dogs
- Guide and assistance dogs are welcome at Oodi.
Wheelchair
- A wheelchair is available for necessary use during the library visit. Request the wheelchair at the information desk on the first floor.
