Studios
You can use the studios of Oodi to create something new and digitise something old with high-quality equipment. Play and record music, take photos and shoot videos, or digitise old audio recordings and videos free of charge. The studios are used independently, but the staff will help you when they can.
How do the studio services work?
All of the studios are reserved in advance via the City of Helsinki’s facility reservation service Varaamo. Varaamo provides you with more detailed information about the equipment and the reservation times and terms of the studios. Please read the description of the studio carefully before making a reservation.
To access the studio, you will need a valid ID document and a library card with valid borrowing rights. You can use your library card to borrow instruments and other equipment for the music studios and a system camera and other photography and video equipment for the photo and video studio. The studios of Oodi can be used free of charge.
In addition to the studios, you can reserve a game room and various Urban Workshop devices on the second floor of Oodi.

The Urban Workshop and the studios are places for learning and activities. The facilities are open to all. We will help users of all skill levels get started, and if we come across a problem, we will learn how to solve it together to the best of our ability and when time allows. Our guidelines for a safer space are binding for both our customers and our staff.

Digitizing studio
You can use the digitising studio to convert old videos and audio recordings into a digital format.

The diversely equipped music rooms of Oodi have everything you need for making music, from a custom-built drum set to a modular synthesiser and borrowable band instruments.
You can also use your library card to borrow an acoustic or electric guitar, an electric bass guitar, a percussion set or even a concert kantele for the studios. We have instruments for left-handed players as well.

The acoustic instruments studio is a sound-proofed facility for practising on acoustic instruments. The studio features a piano, and you can use your library card to borrow an acoustic guitar or a concert kantele for the studio.

Band and vocal studio
The band and vocal studio provides a variety of opportunities for playing music and singing. The studio features an electric piano, vocal microphones, a drum set, amplifiers and karaoke equipment. The room is acoustically treated and soundproofed.

Electronic music studio
The electronic music studio is intended for playing and recording electronic music. The studio features DJ equipment, several different synthesisers and recording equipment. The room is acoustically treated and soundproofed.
Photo and video studio
The photo and video studio of Oodi is a soundproofed room where you can take photographs and shoot videos against paper backdrops of various colours.
The studio is equipped with photoflashes and lights, as well as various tripods, reflectors, brackets and other equipment. For post-processing, the studio features a computer, an image processing console and a drawing tablet.
You can borrow a system camera, a memory card, a flash transmitter, a pen for the drawing tablet and other photography and video equipment for the studio with your library card. The studio is used independently and has a folder containing instructions for using the equipment.
Recording studio
The recording studio of Oodi is intended for learning and practising recording and studio work. The studio provides versatile facilities and equipment for recording, mixing and mastering music. You do not have to be a music professional or highly skilled to use the studio; a studio instructor will be present at the beginning of your reservation to help you get started. More experienced users can reserve a time slot for independent use.
The recording studio of Oodi consists of a control room, a separate live room and a vocal booth. All of the rooms are acoustically treated and soundproofed.
