Helsinki Central Library Oodi

Oodi Central Library will be full of joy on Independence Day 6 December, when the whole building will be transformed into a children's party venue! Come along and enjoy music, circus arts, art and tricks – there's something for people of all ages to do and be amazed by.

Programme:

12–15 Obstacle course
1st floor,  Maijansali
Come along and have fun! At the Sports Services point, the whole family can get together and move and play on the balance track and bouncy mattress.

12–15 Who's your animal friend? word art workshop
2nd floor, Kuutio
Who is your animal friend? At the Annantalo word art workshop, you can make a mini-book about your animal friend, illustrate the book, provide facts on your animal and write a short story if you like.

12–15 Fun portrait workshop
2nd floor, Learning space 3 + Group room 4
What would you look like with a moustache or a monocle? At the City Museum workshop, you can take a Polaroid photo of yourself or take a selfie with your own mobile phone. As props, you can use a variety of cardboard accessories, as well as frames that match the portrait. You can also create your own accessories for the photo.

12–17 Gaming
2nd floor, Learning room 1 + Game rooms
Come and try PC and console gaming. You can take part in small challenges and win prizes. Super amazing youth workers will also be present!

12–17 Mobile libraries at Kansalaistori Square
At Kansalaistori Square, you can explore the City of Helsinki mobile libraries Skidi and Stoori, the Vantaa mobile library Mysse and the Espoo mobile library Välkky.

12.30–13 Narrative music session
3rd floor, Fairy Tale Rug
Playground Loru will be holding a narrative music event for all ages, taking you on a journey through wondrous Finnish nature. Languages: Finnish and Swedish.

13–14 Circus Helsinki performance + Oodi Author of the Year announcement
3rd floor, Fairy Tale Rug
Pure Circus performance for the entire family by Circus Helsinki, followed by the announcement of the Oodi Author of the Year and an interview with the winner.

13–16 Helsinki scouts task at Kansalaistori Square

13–16 Wings of Dreams workshop
3rd floor, Children's event area
At the Wings of Dreams! workshop, the whole family can make their own glittery wings. You can marvel at twinkling stars and explore soft gossamer mountains and colourful candy clouds in the Soft Cloud Castle. The workshop is organised by Hupsansaa ry.

13–16 Space-themed cartoon workshop
3rd floor, Children's loft
At this workshop, we will follow the ‘Space adventure – the search for a home planet' story through the solar system, emotions and planets. The children then get to create their own cartoon inspired by the story. The workshop is organised by Cultural Centre Luckan. Language: Swedish.

14 Central Helsinki Music Institute concert
3rd floor, south end
The young people of the Central Helsinki Music Institute will give a festive blue and white performance featuring a viola group, the SelloTornado and the Tinttaralla and Okariina choirs.

14–15.30 Circus Helsinki characters visit different floors in Oodi

14–17 Fanni emotional skills workshop
3rd floor, Saarikoski rug
The emotional skills workshop offers a variety of fun activities that you can do together with a friend or an adult. It is led by Reetta Huhta, an emotional skills counsellor for children and young people. The collaborative workshop is based on the ‘Fanni’ book series by Heidi Livingston and Julia Pöyhönen.

14.30–15 Narrative music session

16–17.30 Moomintroll + Skidit Disko
1st floor, Maijansali
Moomintroll will open the Skidit Disko together with Director of Oodi Anna-Maria Soininvaara. Put yourself in the greeting line and get carried away by the music.

Skidit Disko is an ode to life, dance and friendships. It is about hit songs, play and crazy partying for people of all ages. Let’s BAILA!
