Book fest at Oodi

Oodi is putting on a book fest to celebrate the seventh anniversary of the Central Library and approach social issues through literature and song lyrics. The programme for the adult audience will culminate in a show by Teosto Prize recipient DJ Kridlokk. The programme is in Finnish.

Saarikoski rug (3rd floor)  
15–16 Elina Hirvonen's book club with guest actor Seela Sella
Writer and Film Director Elina Hirvonen's book club will focus on the poetry of Eeva Kilpi  
16 Poetry performance
Poet and Librarian Miika Osamitsu.
16.05–17 Debate on capitalism 
Criticism of capitalism in literature. The panel will include Author and Philosopher Antti Salminen, Author and Comic Artist Riina Tanskanen and Translator and Journalist Tuukka Tuomasjukka.  
17–18 Discussion on mothering 
The act of motherhood, mothering, has huge social implications. Panellists will include Authors Susanna Hast, Koko Hubara and Olga Palo.   

Maijansali (1st floor)  
17–18 Hardcore punk shouting poetry workshop
Eero Heinonen, who works in the social welfare and healthcare sector, turns hardcore punk into shouting poetry. In Heinonen's workshop, you can safely channel your emotions and unload your own emotional baggage.  "The current government politics provide fertile ground for poetry," Heinonen says.  
18–19 Tommi Liimatta
Interview with and short solo performance by Author and Musician Tommi Liimatta.  The most recent book in Liimatta’s autobiographical series, ‘Manse – Södikan kausi,’ depicts Liimatta’s final years in Tampere and the start of his career as an author. 
19–20 DJ Kridlokk
Artist and Producer DJ Kridlokk aka Kristo Laanti released his highly-anticipated new album ‘Hai’ in April 2024. Laanti received the Teosto Prize for the album. His lyrics focus on urban loneliness. Before the performance, DJ Kridlokk will be briefly interviewed by Rap Artist Kari Grande.

16–17 250 years of Jane Austen
Three Austen specialists and enthusiasts will discuss Jane Austen, her works and their film adaptations: Kersti Juva, translator of the most recent translations of Austen's novels in the 21st century, Maria Lyytinen, translator of Carol Shields' Austen biography, and Film Expert Anna Möttölä.
