Masterclass Workshop: Out of Ableton
Music software has become very powerful and accessible, but while ease of use is certainly a valuable feature, it often imposes limitations by channeling our creativity along predetermined pathways. It regulates where you can go easily and makes out-of-the-box decisions into a less convenient and therefore harder-to-reach option.
In Out of Ableton masterclass, after a thorough investigation of the built-in tools of Ableton, a deeper expedition into the realms of Max4live/MaxMsp will be undertaken, opening up a world of creativity without borders. We start on a white paper, that is waiting to be filled with your wildest ideas. We will investigate how to approach this empty void while still staying close to your ideas. You can dive deep into programming at a fundamental level using math operators, or soar to greater heights by employing snippets, externals, or leveraging the power of Max4Life (M4L). This workshop explores these possibilities in a hands-on way with a special emphasis on creating flexible structures that allow room to grow, both in the moment of performance and over time.
