Book launch of Independence by Leena Telén

Welcome to the launch of Independence by Leena Telén on Sunday 29th September at 3pm at Oodi 3rd floor, The Saarikoski Rug area.

This novel traces the story of three Finnish women – Aino, Salme and Leena – mother, daughter and granddaughter – who struggle for their personal independence, across a century of Finland’s history, starting with the civil war of 1918.

Independence is published in English by Troubadour. A limited number of copies will also be available to buy at this event. The paperback will be available to order from bookshops from 28th August. An E-Book edition is available from online retailers. 

Writer, producer Leena Telén will be present to describe how she came to write her novel, in conversation with broadcast journalist Sini Sovijärvi. She will also show her short film River Crossing, directed by UK filmmaker Marina Willer in 2006 and based on an incident from Independence.
