Sonic expression - creating your own sound art installation

The course is designed to help you explore and express your ideas using sound as a powerful medium for artistic expression, without getting too deep into technical details. No prior experience is needed— if you're interested in sound art, this course is for you!

During the course, we will:

-       Explore examples of existing sound installations

-       Learn about different sound sources: speakers, actuators, mechanical devices, etc.

-       Discover how to find and choose sound material

-       Practice sound recording and processing techniques

-       Understand the basics of sound spatialization (how sound moves in space)

-       Learn about composition processes and structures

-       Plan and design your own sound installation

 

The course accommodates 8 to 12 participants over 16 years old. The language of instruction is English.

The course will take place on Oodi’s 2nd floor, Learning Room 1 (OP1), and other locations (meeting point OP1 area) on the following Wednesdays:

18th September, 6 pm to 8 pm – OP1

25th September, 6 pm to 8 pm – other location (meeting point OP1)

2nd October, 6 pm to 8 pm – OP1

9th October, 6 pm to 8 pm – Oodi’s Recording studio (meeting point OP1)

23rd October, 6 pm to 8 pm – OP1

6th November, 6 pm to 8 pm – OP1

13th November, 6 pm to 8 pm – other location (meeting point OP1)

20th November, 6 pm to 8 pm – OP1

There will be a presentation of the sound installations created during the course on the 30rd of November (time TBA) at Oodi’s Aura.
