Would you like to organize an event open to everyone at Oodi? The aim of the open events is to create a culture of reading for people of all ages and to defend democracy, freedom of speech and a sustainable society.
Oodi welcomes small and large event organizers, private citizens and associations alike. We offer accessible venues for a wide range of events equipped with various technologies. Organizing an event that can be interpreted as a public event at Oodi always requires a permit for the use of the facilities granted by Oodi.
In the spring you can send an application for an event held in the autumn, and in the autumn you can apply for an event held in the spring. The next application period takes place from the 14th of April to the 18th of May, 2025. That caters events held in the autumn 2025.
This fall’s theme is “Sustainable Dreams of the Future.” We hope that the proposals will support one of the three main goals of the library’s action plan: 1. Creating a reading culture, 2. Defending freedom of expression, democracy and sustainable development, or 3. A developing city. For example, you can propose an event related to literature, a debate about democracy, or an event about urban planning.
Small-scale events can be organised all year round. For literary and music events, please contact oodi.aikuiset@hel.fi . Instead, you can suggest children’s events to us at oodi.lapsetjanuoret@hel.fi
Open events are mainly held in Oodi on weekday nights and weekends. Open events cannot have a registration or admission fee. We don’t pay performance fees. We advertise events in the library’s channels. If you have any questions, contact us by email at oodi.tapahtumat@hel.fi
