Let’s say you’d like to play basketball on the newly opened park Makasiinipuisto in front of Helsinki Central Library Oodi, but you haven’t brought a ball with you. Or perhaps the Kansalaistori square makes you want to use a skateboard but your board’s at home.
No problem, we’ve got you covered! You can borrow all kinds of equipment from the library. Free of charge of course. You’ll only need a library card.
Head to the information desk on the first floor to find what’s available. And remember to return what you have borrowed during the same day you’ve checked them out. We are open on weekdays until 10 pm and on weekends until 8 pm, so that should be quite easy!
What we have now:
Basketballs
Footballs
Skipping ropes
Giant mikado
Pétanque
Croquet
What we’ll also have in August:
Kickbikes for kids. You’ll need to have your own helmet!
Skateboards. You’ll need to have your own helmet!
Trekking poles
The equipment that can be borrowed from Helsinki Central Library Oodi are a part of Helsinki City’s Helsinki liikkuu -program, that encourages the citizens to move more actively. The goal is to make every day excercising a more easy and tempting life choice. Even a small excercise helps!
