Media Art
Open call
Do you have a video artwork, music video, animation, short film, sound art, or another media art piece you would like to present publicly?
Oodi is seeking a variety of media art works to be presented in Oodi’s spaces during 2026–2027. The content of the artwork must align with the library’s values.
Oodi does not pay compensation for presenting the works.
Send us a link to the video or a sample of the work, along with a description of the piece and its creators, and explain in the message why the work would be suitable for presentation at Oodi.
Please send your message by 28 February 2026 to oodi.taide@hel.fi with the subject line “Open call for artworks”.
Art Belongs to Everyone
Oodi serves as a lively cultural space for city residents, where art is accessible to all. Oodi aims to introduce new media and forms of expression. In the library, art becomes part of the everyday environment, lowering the threshold for experiencing art.
Public Art in the Library Space
A library is an open space for everyone and follows the principles of a safer space. This also applies to the library’s art content. The library does not present works intended to violate human rights or demean minorities. Works that glorify violence or are pornographic are not shown in the library.
The library evaluates each work separately regarding its suitability for the space and scheduling. Artwork selections always take into account the library’s overall activities. Choices are made so that events, current themes, and other content support one another.
The content of artworks and events must be appropriate for the library environment and consistent with the library’s values. The artist is responsible for the content of their works and events, but we will negotiate when necessary, and the library reserves the right to make the final decisions. The library has the right to decline a work if its content or execution is unsuitable for a public space or does not support the library’s mission.
Library values: education, freedom of expression, equality, sustainability, and joy.
