Central Library Oodi to receive new director

Salla Tammi has been appointed Director of Central Library Services as of 1 February 2026. Oodi’s current director, Anna-Maria Soininvaara, will retire on 31 January 2026.

Salla Tammi is currently serving as the Library Services Manager of Lahti City Library. Tammi holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree. She has also completed a specialist vocational qualification in management. Salla Tammi has worked for 20 years in various positions in the libraries of Lahti and Kouvola and as a cultural secretary for the City of Orimattila. She has 12 years of experience in supervisor roles in the library sector. Salla Tammi has also worked as a doctoral researcher in history.

The Director of Central Library Services manages Central Library Oodi and is responsible for the joint development of library services in the Helsinki city centre area in accordance with the Helsinki City Strategy and the strategic objectives of the library. The special features of Central Library Services include an international role as a development library, partner organisations working within Oodi and a prominent role as a tourist attraction in Helsinki. The Central Library Services are organised into four Oodi units. There are around 70 members of staff and four direct employees working under the director.
